Doctoral Students
Every year, our lab recruits 1-2 Ph.D. students. We typically consider students with strong fundamentals in aspects of robotics as well as demonstrated ability to build software systems. If this is you, please send the PI an email with your CV with “[PhD]” in your subject.
In Fall 2024, we are considering students interested in conducting research in the following areas:
- Safe and trustworthy autonomy – Particularly students with some interest and background in verification of AI and autonomous systems
- Novel sensing – Development of innovative sensing systems including RF, acoustic and visual sensing for indoor perception and autonomous driving
Masters Students
Every semester, the DRONES lab has several opportunities for Masters students to participate in research. This requires prior skills as listed in the postings below as well as good GPA at UB or prior institution. A regular way to join research in DRONES Lab is to take CSE 468/568: Robotics Algorithms offered by Prof. Karthik Dantu and do well in the course. Research in DRONES Lab can be for course credit – there are no paid positions at this time. Students are expected to be able to spare 10-15 hrs per week for research outside of their coursework.

Undergraduate Students
Every semester, DRONES Lab has several opportunities for undergraduate students to participate in research. Students applying should have a good GPA at UB and some prior programming experience. You will also be expected to spare 10-15 hrs a week separate from your course work. You can do research for course credit. Please look at the listed positions.
